Studio PBA

Introduction to Studio PBA

Le Studio PBA – Powered by La Loterie Nationale

Launched by the Palais des Beaux-Arts, the Studio PBA is an innovative project offering artistic training with a focus on transdisciplinarity. This program is aimed at young pre-professional opera singers, dancers, rappers and slam artists, offering them the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills across various disciplines. The seven-week program (from March to May 2027) will enable participants to present two projects at the end of this period. These productions will be presented at the Palais des Beaux-Arts on the 28th, 29th and 30th of May 2027. The three productions presented will be a stage adaptation of the reworked Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium, a Mozart concert with orchestra, and a contemporary, choreographed version of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. Rehearsals will begin in March, and the projects are already looking very promising !

Merci aux joueurs de la Loterie Nationale, grâce à eux la Loterie Nationale soutient, cette année encore et pour la 3ème fois le Festival Studio PBA ! #bienplusquejouer

The Studio PBA 26-27 presents an urban project exploring a contemporary, multidisciplinary reinterpretation of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, a universal hymn telling the story of a mother’s love in the face of her son’s death. This creation will combine hip-hop/contemporary dance, singing, a saxophone quartet and electronic music.

The selected young artists will have the opportunity to work with a professional artistic team bringing together David Vandenplas (choreography), Rosa Belmonte (soprano), Julie Phan (mezzo-soprano) and the Effel Quartet (saxophones). The Studio PBA’s artistic direction is led by Patrick Leterme.

The Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi & the National Lottery: key partners of Studio PBA

Studio PBA offers an innovative approach to arts education in Belgium and across Europe, with a focus on transdisciplinarity. This programme is primarily aimed at young professional opera singers, dancers and urban artists, enabling them to develop a diverse range of skills that transcend the traditional boundaries of the arts. The aim is to equip participants with multidisciplinary skills so that they can express themselves fully on the international stage.

Thanks to an ambitious and long-term partnership between the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi and the National Lottery, a four-month training programme centered on interdisciplinary exchange will culminate in a festival  at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, as well as on tour at various partner cultural venues. Thanks to this partnership, a new rehearsal space has been created, providing Studio PBA, as well as other artists and companies from Charleroi and the surrounding area, and other Belgian performers, with a long-awaited residency space.

National Lottery players contribute to this project, as well as to countless other good causes in the fields of culture, sport, scientific research, sustainable development, the fight against poverty, development cooperation and solidarity initiatives. As a result, the small stakes placed by many players enable the lottery to invest millions of euros every year in organisations and projects that make a difference to many people’s lives and help to build a better society. Thank you to all our players ! #bienplusquejouer
